OUR HISTORY

A passion and fascination about mushrooms led us down the path of research and wanting to do something different than the normal button mushrooms or easily accessible mushrooms, stumbling upon the wonderful Oyster Mushroom.

This product is widely known and used internationally, but very limited in Gauteng and not known to the everyday public.  After extensive courses and training we started with a small setup greenhouse.  An initial hobby and passion quickly turned into a fulltime business as ourselves and the customers were quickly educated about the wonderful product.

About

Oyster Mushrooms

Oyster Mushrooms

are a type of edible fungi.

They are one of the most widely consumed mushrooms in the world. They get their name from their oyster-shaped cap and very short (or completely absent) stem. They’re also similar to the colour of raw oysters. Oyster mushrooms are typically a light grey or greyish-brown colour, but also come in several other colours such as yellow, pink and blue.

They are called oyster mushrooms as many believe that the name is fitting due to a flavour resemblance to oysters. The name oyster mushroom is also applied to other Pleurotus species, so P. ostreatus is sometimes referred to as the tree oyster mushroom or the grey oyster mushroom to differentiate it from other species in the genus.
